Position

Description:

Join a dynamic healthcare construction team as a Healthcare Estimator in Birmingham, Alabama. This full-time, on-site role offers the opportunity to lead the development of accurate, competitive cost estimates for a variety of healthcare projects, including hospitals, medical office buildings, outpatient facilities, and surgical centers. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors, supporting project planning, risk analysis, and value engineering initiatives.

You'll play a pivotal role in securing healthcare construction projects, contributing to meaningful advances in healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and detailed hard-bid estimates for healthcare construction projects

* Analyze drawings, specifications, and project data to develop precise quantity takeoffs and cost estimates

* Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive bids

* Assist in creating project budgets, value engineering solutions, and identifying cost-saving opportunities

* Identify project risks, opportunities, and cost drivers during preconstruction phases

* Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project planning sessions

* Collaborate with project management, operations, and business development teams to support project pursuits

* Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and benchmarks

* Mentor junior estimators and support strategic planning initiatives

Top Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field

* 3-5+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience with a commercial general contractor

* Experience in healthcare construction projects like hospitals, surgical centers, or imaging facilities

Preferred

Skills and Experience:

* Knowledge of healthcare-specific construction requirements (infection control, life safety, regulatory compliance)

* Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Sage Estimating, Procore, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project

* Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

* Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents

* Producing accurate, competitive project estimates within deadlines

* Supporting successful pursuit and award of healthcare construction projects

* Identifying innovative, cost-saving solutions while maintaining quality and compliance

* Building lasting relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams

* Mentoring junior staff and serving as a technical resource within the team
