Process Engineer III
Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer III to support the design and development of process systems for power generation projects including simple-cycle gas turbine installations, combined-cycle gas turbine power plants, and reciprocating engine facilities. This role supports all phases of EPC project execution, from conceptual and feasibility studies through detailed engineering, procurement support, startup, and commissioning.
The ideal candidate will bring strong process engineering expertise, experience supporting industrial or power generation facilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary EPC project teams.
Project Execution
- Lead or support process engineering activities across all project phases including:
- Conceptual and feasibility studies
- Detailed engineering design
- Procurement support
- Startup and commissioning support
- Develop and maintain:
- Process design basis documents
- Equipment lists
- Line lists
- Tie-in schedules
- Prepare and review equipment datasheets and technical specifications for procurement packages including:
- Pumps
- Vessels
- Tanks
- Heat exchangers
- Blowers
- Packaged systems such as water treatment, chemical feed, and instrument air systems
- Track engineering deliverables and manage scope changes within the process discipline
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering interfaces and collaborate with vendors, OEMs, and project stakeholders throughout project execution
- Employee may be required to visit job sites, field offices, and customer locations
System Design
- Design balance-of-plant systems including:
- Demineralized water treatment systems (RO, CEDI, mixed bed)
- Closed cooling water systems
- Service water systems
- Instrument and plant air systems
- Chemical dosing systems
- Wastewater handling systems
- Specify and size:
- Atmospheric tanks in accordance with API 650
- Pressure vessels in accordance with ASME BPVC Section VIII
- Evaluate material compatibility for plant chemicals including:
- Aqueous ammonia
- Sulfuric acid
- Sodium hypochlorite
- Other industrial process chemicals
- Support specification and selection of fluid turbo machinery including centrifugal pumps and natural gas compressors
- Support air permitting activities by developing emissions estimates for:
- Gas turbines
- Duct burners
- Auxiliary boilers
- Emergency engines
- Coordinate with environmental consultants regarding:
- SCR and CO catalyst guarantees
- Ammonia slip limits
- Continuous emissions monitoring requirements
- Provide process engineering data for:
- Noise studies
- Wastewater discharge permitting
- Secondary containment and drainage design
Drawings & Documentation
- Create and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) showing:
- Major equipment
- Flow paths
- Heat and mass balance conditions
- Key operating parameters
- Develop and maintain Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) from early studies through detailed design including:
- Control schemes
- Isolation philosophy
- Relief device locations
- Utility connections
- Equipment tagging standards
- Participate in HAZOP reviews, constructability reviews, and operability evaluations
- Manage P& and engineering redlines through successive design stages
- Coordinate with instrumentation, piping, electrical, and structural disciplines to ensure consistency across engineering deliverables
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration highly preferred or ability to obtain PE registration in project states
- Minimum 4 years of relevant industrial experience in:
- Chemical processing
- Petroleum refining
- Power generation
- EPC process design engineering environments
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of power generation systems including gas turbines and combined-cycle facilities
- Familiarity with process simulation and hydraulic modeling software such as:
- GT Pro
- PIPE-FLO
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D / P&
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including:
- Word
- Excel
- Power Point
- Outlook
- Familiarity with industry engineering codes, standards, and best practices
