Transmission Line Design Estimator

This position is responsible for providing project scoping, estimating, and conceptual design services in support of the Operating Company's Transmission Line projects. This position will work with a small team of very experienced Transmission employees that handle the estimates and pre-design steps/documentation to assist Line Design and Civil Design (primarily with Substations). The focus will be working with the Head Estimator on the team to develop timely and accurate estimates as requested/needed for Transmission Line projects primarily.

Estimates are done using in-house software and on-the-fly labor calculations using a specific spreadsheet. Successful applicant will have to have significant estimating experience and/or work in Transmission Lines and very willing to learn whichever side they may be less proficient in - obviously having experience in both is a huge plus. Prior experience with Southern Company and Southern Company systems is also an advantage.

The client is seeking experience with Transmission Line Design, as they broke down some of the length of time that would create set back for not having design and product knowledge along with estimating and then thirdly the specific software to which this role would be functioning.. Some of the specifics required to be able to fullfill the description would be general knowledge of Transmission Planning along with civil site construction development and operations maintenance.

Detailed knowledge of civil site cost estimating, time management and organization skills sufficient to manage multiple project with various priorities and completing deadlines. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and then the ability to establish and maintain peer/customer Relationships across organizational lines A nice to have experience area would be someone having worked in Substation Construction cost estimation working with a program related to TEAMS or having worked with the specific program (again Teams) having partnered with a company indirectly to the Support of Southern Company

Intermediate Level

This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
