Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager – Transportation to join our team in either Huntsville or Birmingham, AL

- Support the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects, primarily focusing on roadway design while assisting with traffic engineering, multimodal planning, and related services.
- Assist with project management activities, including scope, schedule, and budget tracking, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Contribute to business development efforts by supporting proposal preparation, identifying potential opportunities, and maintaining client relationships with municipalities, counties, and state agencies.
- Apply engineering principles to develop technical designs and analyses, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in QA/QC processes to help ensure the delivery of high-quality, accurate, and technically sound work products.
- Coordinate with internal teams—including Planning, Survey, Environmental, H&H, Structural, and Construction—to support integrated project delivery.
- Provide technical support during project development and, as needed, assist with construction-phase services and field coordination.
- Collaborate with senior staff and leadership to implement project strategies and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and deliverables.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, designers, and technicians, supporting team development and knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, but required to obtain within six months of hiring.
- Ability to obtain licensure in additional states where Waggoner practices, as needed.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., PTOE, PMP, DBIA) are a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local engineering regulations and design standards for transportation projects.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of construction processes and practices to support constructability and field coordination.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
