Job DescriptionAs a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in driving capital projects that support our division’s engineering strategy. You will be responsible for end-to-end project management — from concept and design through cost control, construction, and successful commissioning.
What You’ll Do- Uses Auto Desk products to perform design tasks and produce fabrication and erection drawings.
- Provides field supervision/inspection services on construction projects and performs post-project review to ensure key objectives, cost/performance improvements, and rate of return are achieved.
- Prepares bid packages for construction and manages construction contracts.
- Provides project updates on a regular frequency to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
- Represents the company to industry associations, government officials, and public agencies.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Travel varies based on projects up to 20%.
- Sets a safety tone for all activities and upholds the highest standards for protecting people and the environment.
- BS degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Mining Engineering and/or 2+ years of experience using drafting software (i.e., AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.) to produce detailed plans, models, and blueprints for Industrial Projects.
- Experience supporting projects from concept to completion; knowledge of concrete and steel design, building codes, and construction practices is an added benefit.
- Experience in a mining, industrial, or construction environment and/or other similar fields is desired.
- Experience with processing equipment and pumping equipment is desired.
- Acts decisively and supports all aspects of the company to work together to accomplish the objectives, vision, mission, and values of Vulcan. Trusts and allows people to do their job. Develops innovative solutions to problems by trying non-obvious or non-traditional approaches.
- Identifies and defines clear short-term goals and/or work outcomes that are required to implement strategic goals.
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
- Follows through with commitments and solves problems in a timely fashion; asks investigative questions to go beyond surface issues and fully understand the components of a problem and its root causes.
- Verifies assumptions or interpretations by checking with credible sources or through first‑hand observation and data‑gathering.
- Advanced computer skills, including spreadsheets and the Microsoft Office Suite, are required.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and must be extremely resourceful; communicates clearly and listens carefully in an open, candid, and consistent manner.
- Acts with unyielding integrity and honesty in business transactions, promoting company policies and holding self and other employees accountable. Honors commitments to yourself and others.
