Position: Estimator, McWane Plant & Industrial

Location: Birmingham, AL

Position

Purpose:

The focus of this job is producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. In this position you will review incoming plans, drawings and specifications to identify opportunities/projects while producing precise, accurate quotations for MPI.

• Oversee specification reviews for incoming plans.
• Measure and track quotations for general contract review.
• Provide and communicate estimations and modifications across McWane divisions and facilities to meet customer and deadline demands.
• Review drawings to produce comprehensive product opportunities in the form of a takeoff.
• Read drawings and blueprints, develop takeoff of products in estimations to produce a quote.
• Specify review and interpretation to provide accurate quote.
• Takeoff of available products.
• Create quote.
• Communicate with Regional Sales Managers and reps to produce quotation.
• Communicate with 3rd party vendors to obtain actuation costs for valve quotes where required.
• Communicate with painting vendors on special paints or with accessory vendors.
• Maintain steady, even pace to promote accuracy and quality of work.

• Required:
• Associate's degree, preferably in business, engineering, estimation or equivalent industry experience.
• Project management experience and project management software skills.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects with attention to detail.
• Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software tools.
• Detail oriented, adept at reading documents and engineering drawings and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license with no major violations.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Mechanical aptitude or engineering background.
• Must be a team player.
• Desired:
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in business or engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Previous estimating experience in wastewater industry.
• Experience with legal contracts and interface with legal teams.
• Familiarity with CRM software tools to manage, track and measure quotation activities.
