Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) Engineer / Analyst
Long-Term Contract
Brooksource is seeking a Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) Engineer / Analyst to support one of the nation's largest energy providers. This individual will play a critical role in improving equipment reliability and minimizing unplanned outages across a fleet of power generation facilities through predictive maintenance and condition monitoring technologies.
This position is ideal for someone with a background in reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, vibration analysis, or condition monitoring within power generation or other heavy industrial environments.
Responsibilities- Execute condition-based monitoring activities using predictive maintenance technologies including:
- Vibration analysis
- Infrared thermography
- Oil and lubricant analysis
- Motor current analysis
- Perform diagnostics and trending analysis to evaluate equipment health and identify potential failures before they occur.
- Generate reports outlining findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
- Travel to power generation facilities to perform inspections, collect condition monitoring data, and support system maintenance.
- Install, configure, and maintain InsightCM online condition monitoring hardware and software.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of collected equipment data.
- Partner closely with plant maintenance and operations teams to develop preventive and corrective action plans.
- Maintain detailed documentation of monitoring activities, equipment findings, system configurations, and recommendations.
- Support initiatives focused on improving asset reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Assist in the development of data visualizations, reporting tools, and analytics related to asset health and reliability.
- Build strong working relationships with plant leadership, operations personnel, and technical stakeholders.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience supporting predictive maintenance or condition-based monitoring programs in power generation, manufacturing, industrial, utility, refinery, chemical plant, or similar environments.
- Hands‑on experience with one or more of the following:
- Vibration Analysis
- Infrared Thermography
- Oil Analysis
- Motor Current Analysis
- Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to travel up to 50% to power generation facilities.
- Experience working with rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, turbines, generators, fans, or compressors.
- Experience with Emerson InsightCM, AMS Machinery Manager, or other online condition monitoring platforms.
- Reliability certifications or predictive maintenance certifications are a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to plant personnel and leadership.
