Fleet Plant Support Engineer
Location:
Birmingham, AL 35243
Duration: 4 Months (Possible extension or Conversion)
Pay Rate: $28-32.00/hr on W2
Shift hour: 1st Shift Onsite
Job Description:
The Engineer 1 position requires 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree.
Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power-related systems.
Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications.
Provides guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages.
Responsibilities include:
- Create a safe work environment by putting safety first.
- Understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance.
- Understand the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance.
- Understand design practices and work processes.
- Use all software applications used in design.
- Understand industry and Southern Company design standards.
- Support design standard and criteria development for the system.
- Support construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations.
- Estimate material for projects.
- Transmit construction packages and support specifications.
- 0-5 years of related experience or accredited bachelor’s degree.
- Introductory engineering knowledge.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
- Limited discretion in making independent decisions based on procedures and review with supervisor.
- Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and/or vendors.
