Engineer 1
The Engineer 1 position is an entry-level role requiring 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor's degree. This position involves applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to resolve open engineering issues. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers are preferred, though Aerospace, Biomedical, and Chemical Engineers will be considered based on their background and experience. The role involves supporting Comprehensive System Reviews and engineering evaluations at Nuclear Plants, with potential involvement at Vogtle 3&4.
Responsibilities- Create a safe work environment by prioritizing safety.
- Follow established engineering principles and execute assigned work with quality.
- Apply engineering processes and design criteria to support resolution of open engineering issues.
- Support the completion of Comprehensive System Reviews and engineering evaluations.
- Build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and vendors.
- Introductory engineering knowledge.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make limited independent decisions based on procedures and supervisor review.
- Basic discipline software knowledge.
- Strong work ethic.
- Positive attitude.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical preferred; Aerospace, Biomedical, and Chemical considered).
- Experience in nuclear power, quality assurance, and design processes.
- Skills in design review, cost estimation, construction management, and design packages.
- Knowledge of power generation and capital project management.
The work environment is onsite at the Energy Center, focusing on nuclear power and capital projects. Engineers are expected to collaborate closely with plant staff and vendors, ensuring a professional and safety-first atmosphere.
Job Type & LocationThis is a contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
