Engineer 1

Location: Birmingham, Alabama (On-site)

We are seeking an Engineer I to support the design, planning, and construction of electric power infrastructure. This entry-level engineering role is ideal for recent graduates or professionals with up to five years of experience who are looking to build a career in utility engineering. The Engineer I will apply engineering principles, industry standards, and design software to develop construction-ready solutions that support the safe and reliable delivery of electric service.

• Support the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of electric power systems.
• Develop engineering designs, construction packages, specifications, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare project cost estimates and material requirements.
• Evaluate design alternatives and recommend practical solutions.
• Provide oversight and quality reviews of contractor-developed designs, estimates, and construction packages.
• Support the development and maintenance of engineering standards, specifications, and design criteria.
• Utilize engineering and design software applications to complete project assignments.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide engineering support during construction and maintenance activities.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring safety remains the top priority in all work activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 0–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and design methodologies.
• Ability to learn and apply engineering software and technical tools.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  
  Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a commitment to continuous learning.

• Exposure to utility, electrical, power systems, or infrastructure-related projects.
• Familiarity with engineering design software and construction documentation processes.
• Understanding of applicable industry standards and engineering best practices.

• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to build productive relationships with operations personnel, engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Sound judgment with the ability to make decisions within established procedures and guidelines.
• Commitment to safety, operational excellence, and customer service.
