Geotechnical Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Birmingham, AL. The successful candidate will be involved in a range of engineering projects and will play a key role in providing technical expertise and leadership.
Responsibilities- Perform and review complex calculations for shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, settlement, and earth retention systems.
- Oversee project life cycles, including developing investigation plans, managing budgets, and ensuring strict adherence to delivery schedules.
- Lead field activities, including borehole logging, drilling to ensure data quality, earthwork observation, and foundation placement.
- Author and review comprehensive geotechnical reports providing formal recommendations to clients and structural engineers.
- Provide guidance and review the technical work of junior engineers and field staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geologic Engineering; a Master's degree specializing in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
- 4 to 8 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Alabama, or ability to obtain it within 6 months.
- Mastery of geotechnical modeling software and a deep understanding of soil mechanics and material properties.
- Strong client-facing communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in construction materials testing and inspection.
- Familiarity with ASTM standards and IBC Special Inspection.
- Experience with construction material inspections and observations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.67/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
