Plant Manager
This is a well-established, family-owned specialty chemical manufacturer located in the Greater Birmingham area; they've been around for 60+ years and have been steadily growing over the past several years. The incumbent was just promoted into the plant manager role and while this role might not be necessarily a back-fill of his role, this is an additional engineering role the would like to add to their team.
~80-person plant.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
- Approximately 4 to 10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, production engineering, or a closely related industrial environment.
- Background in batch or continuous chemical processing preferred; relevant pharmaceutical manufacturing experience may also be considered. Must have previous OSHA PSM experience.
- Hands-on engineering mindset with the ability to stay close to the process, troubleshoot plant issues, and drive practical improvements.
- Able to lead engineers while still contributing technically to process optimization, project execution, troubleshooting, and day-to-day manufacturing support.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills with operations, maintenance, quality, controls/automation, and plant leadership.
About the Role:
This person will oversee a small engineering team within a PSM-regulated specialty chemical manufacturing site. This role would be ideal for a senior process engineer who is looking for that first opportunity to move into a supervisory role. Little to no travel associated with this role.
