Chemical Process Engineer

Location: Birmingham, AL |
Schedule: Full-time, on-site

An established specialty chemical manufacturer with a long operating history in the Birmingham area is adding a new engineering role to its team following a recent internal promotion to plant manager. This is an opportunity to lead a small engineering group within a PSM-regulated manufacturing site while remaining hands‑on with process improvement and plant operations.

• Oversee a small engineering team within a PSM-regulated specialty chemical manufacturing facility
• Stay closely involved with plant processes, troubleshooting issues and driving practical improvements
• Lead engineers while continuing to contribute technically to process optimization, project execution, troubleshooting, and daily manufacturing support
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, controls/automation, and plant leadership

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
• Approximately 4 to 10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, production engineering, or a closely related industrial environment
• Previous OSHA PSM experience
• Hands‑on engineering mindset with strong troubleshooting ability
• Strong cross‑functional communication skills

• Background in batch or continuous chemical processing preferred; relevant pharmaceutical manufacturing experience may also be considered
