At Regions, the Consumer Business Unit Credit Risk Portfolio Manager develops strategic and tactical recommendations that enhance Consumer Lending's ability to increase profitability, while managing overall portfolio credit and financial risk. This position identifies, measures, mitigates, monitors, and reports on consumer loan portfolios (e.g., mortgage, home equity, consumer, indirect-vehicles, indirect-other) from the first line perspective. This position requires the ability to analyze, communicate, and support the implementation of strategic solutions that focus on the best interest of customers, shareholders, and communities served.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Evaluates, organizes, and interprets data and information to formulate opinions to report to senior/executive management
- Recommends strategies to improve loan performance and report key risks and emerging trends through identification of proactive risk mitigation and origination strategies and collaborates with Financial Risk on strategies to mitigate risk through either the Risk Appetite Framework, Concentration Framework, or through changes in Credit Policy
- Develops action plans to address potential risks and breaches including the Risk Appetite and Concentration Frameworks
- Researches and reports on key credit and emerging risks and develops action plans to address issues
- Serves and acts as the business group's credit subject matter expert for regulatory, product, procedure, and corporate policy initiatives
- Serves as the business group’s Credit and Financial risk liaison and provides input into the determination of risk metrics, concentration limits, credit policy, and key risk assumptions
- Collaborates with Financial Risk on both the design and overlay process across stress testing models within Consumer and Small Business portfolios
- Provides business representation and lead discussion on key committees, working groups, and other forums; lead cross-functional working groups as needed
- Assists in driving a continuous improvement approach to making appropriate recommendations for change, to gain efficiencies and ensure the effectiveness, consistency, and relevance of risk processes
- Is an active participant in business reviews and other forums to highlight areas of emerging risk and overall Credit trends
- Coordinates with the fraud and credit teams to ensure effective strategies are in place to mitigate first party fraud across lending and deposit products, and provides trends to product managers
- Builds comprehensive datasets from various source and reporting systems for the use in in-depth portfolio analysis and performance monitoring
- Assists with the training and development of less experienced members of the team
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
- Eight (8) years of credit risk, portfolio management, or financial analysis experience
- Broad knowledge of the product lifecycle: origination strategy, performance management, and collections
- Experience coordinating cross-functional work streams or project management experience
- Master’s Degree or Professional Certification (e.g., Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM))
- Five (5) years of experience working directly with credit risk in consumer products
- Experience with data visualization tools (i.e., Power BI, Tableau)
- Basic understanding of quantitative measures of credit performance (e.g., PD/LGD/EL/EC, LEE)
