IDR is seeking a
Chief Financial Officer to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Birmingham, AL. This is a hands‑on finance leadership role within a stable, long‑established organization in a project‑based services industry. You’ll lead accounting operations, strengthen controls and reporting, and partner with business leaders to improve job costing, margin visibility, and operational performance.
- Lead the overall finance and accounting function, including financial strategy, forecasting, cash flow, and executive-level reporting
- Oversee core accounting operations (GL, AP, AR) and ensure accurate, timely month‑end close and financial statements
- Strengthen internal controls and audit readiness, ensuring compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations
- Partner with operational leaders to improve job costing, billing accuracy, WIP/margin visibility, and KPI reporting across business lines
- Drive process improvement and modernization of finance systems and workflows, with a focus on automation and better visibility
- CPA required (active/in good standing)
- 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting leadership experience, including oversight of GL/AP/AR and financial reporting
- Proven experience leading audits and strengthening internal controls in a regulated or compliance‑driven environment
- Background in project‑based, construction, service, or similar operational environments with exposure to job costing and margin/WIP concepts
- Experience improving financial processes and/or optimizing ERP/accounting systems to increase accuracy, speed, and visibility
