Financial Project Manager
Job Description
The Financial Project Manager manages complex financial projects with a strong focus on engineering procurement construction initiatives. This role leads in-depth financial analysis, cost control, and financial projections, while partnering closely with business units to develop project schedules and provide clear updates on the financial health of projects.
Responsibilities
* Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure financial and schedule objectives remain on track.
* Review and approve invoices under the direction of the Project Manager, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
* Provide cost projections and identify cost trends for leadership to support informed decision-making.
* Track project progress and report on key financial and schedule milestones.
* Develop resource and cash flow plans to project future resource needs and funding requirements.
* Identify, analyze, and provide solutions to cost engineering problems to improve project financial performance.
* Review expense forms and other invoice documentation for accuracy and completeness.
* Monitor project scope, cost, and schedule, and highlight variances or risks as they arise.
* Conduct in-depth financial analysis and forecasting to support project and organizational goals.
* Analyze price variances, investigate root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Essential Skills
* Over 5 years of engineering project cost controls and financial project management experience.
* Strong understanding of project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
* Proficiency in cost estimation and cost control for engineering or construction-related projects.
* Experience in financial forecasting and financial modeling for complex projects.
* Strong background in financial reporting and project cost tracking.
* Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
* Solid knowledge of accounting and finance principles as they apply to project environments.
* Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business units and stakeholders.

* Experience supporting engineering procurement construction projects or similar large-scale technical initiatives.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and manage resource and cash flow plans.
* Proven track record of identifying cost trends and providing actionable insights to management.
* Ability to investigate and resolve price variances and cost discrepancies.
* Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in reviewing invoices and expense documentation.
Work Environment
This role operates within a professional office environment at the LCL
149 - APC Annex location. The Financial Project Manager works closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and business unit teams, collaborating on project schedules, budgets, and financial performance. The environment emphasizes structured project processes, detailed financial review, and regular communication with stakeholders to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.

This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.00/hr.
