Position: Clinical Financial Officer I

Position Description

Work Schedule:

Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Work Location:

Birmingham, AL

Responsibilities
  • Manage financial operations of larger, more complex units.
  • Develop and administer budgets and financial systems.
  • Project revenue, space, and facility planning.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to established guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Establish and maintain accurate financial management databases.
  • Make decisions regarding reporting and use of financial resources.
  • Provide financial guidance to assigned staff and coordinate integration with University and UAB Medicine accounting systems.
  • Oversee billing and collections operations, including third‑party reimbursement and direct patient billing for some units.
  • Manage revenue‑producing activity and/or accounting functions for assigned unit.
  • Supervise office support and/or professional staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline and, if necessary, discharge.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Experience may substitute for the education requirement.
