Position Description
Work Schedule:
Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
Work Location:
Birmingham, AL

Responsibilities- Manage financial operations of larger, more complex units.
- Develop and administer budgets and financial systems.
- Project revenue, space, and facility planning.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to established guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Establish and maintain accurate financial management databases.
- Make decisions regarding reporting and use of financial resources.
- Provide financial guidance to assigned staff and coordinate integration with University and UAB Medicine accounting systems.
- Oversee billing and collections operations, including third‑party reimbursement and direct patient billing for some units.
- Manage revenue‑producing activity and/or accounting functions for assigned unit.
- Supervise office support and/or professional staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline and, if necessary, discharge.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or a related field.
- Two (2) years of related experience.
- Experience may substitute for the education requirement.
- Self‑directed, self‑motivated, and good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Perform a variety of duties with changing tasks without loss of efficiency.
- Accept responsibility for the direction, control, and planning of one’s own work.
- Work independently.
- Recognize rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality.
