Job DescriptionAt Regions, the Private Wealth Management Credit Portfolio Manager is responsible for analyzing, underwriting, and negotiating credit decisions for standards Private Wealth Management (PWM) credit requests submitted by Private Wealth and Lending Advisors. This position will serve on the First Line of Defense and will analyze new Private Wealth Credit and underwrite new or renewed credit exposure. The role will gather information and perform in-depth research to identify, quantify, and mitigate underwriting risk inherent to extending the bank’s capital.
This role will be expected to develop strong working relationships with client management, internal teammates, credit officers, and other bankers.
- Review more complex and customized Private Wealth transactions above a designated threshold against Regions' credit standards, validate the appropriate risk rating, and recommend credit decision with limited oversight from management
- Structure PWM credit products to both competitively meet unique PWM client credit needs and minimize credit risk with limited oversight
- Prepare credit packages for new and renewed debt products including performing credit underwriting, analyzing financial statements and projections, utilizing financial models, determining appropriate risk rating, and identifying and mitigating credit risks
- Monitor and manage the credit exposure within Regions' Private Wealth portfolio and identify opportunities for exposure reduction or new credit opportunities with some guidance from management
- Manage and conduct timely and ongoing portfolio monitoring and servicing activities for an assigned portfolio
- Manage past due and maturing loans and workflow for an assigned portfolio
- Ensure compliance with internal bank PWM, commercial loan policy, consumer loan policy, credit risk appetite, and external regulatory requirements
- Document exceptions to credit policy and related rationale/risk mitigation with limited oversight
- Assess risk issues using standard procedures and make sound decisions
- Engage with WAs and LAs for assigned portfolio, active in client planning and deal structuring by leading deal discussions and negotiations
- Participate in pricing decisions for PWM credit solutions
- Review loan documents for accuracy prior to closing
- May provide coaching and mentorship for other team members and field partners
- May consult with both internal and external clients on PWM credit solutions
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- Five (5) years of experience in commercial or PWM underwriting
- Commercial or Private Wealth management underwriting experience
- Knowledge of both Consumer and Commercial Loan Products and Compliance issues
- Prior experience with the Individual Rating Model in Moody’s Risk Analyst (MRA)
- Successful completion of Moody’s online credit training or other major corporate credit training program
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent Excel and MRA spreadsheet skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
