Oakworth Capital Bank is expanding and has an excellent opportunity for a full‑time Credit Analyst to join our team in Birmingham, AL. The role is part of the credit team, working collaboratively to assess risk with new or existing clients and manage commercial credit risk.

The analyst will collaborate with associates across all departments, think creatively, and provide sound credit structure insights to client advisors and managers while supporting all areas of the bank’s credit and risk departments. Candidates should demonstrate alignment with Oakworth Core Values:

Key Roles/Responsibilities
  • Underwrite loan requests, identify key issues, offer mitigants as needed, discuss with client advisors and team leads.
  • Assemble loan approval packages for review and articulate argument for or against.
  • Manage ongoing credit risk in existing loans via construction project monitoring, industry reviews, loan review or examiner suggestions.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies, point out deviations, and provide proper notices and approvals to file.
  • Assist loan operations in reviewing loan documents to verify all loans are documented within the previously approved terms.
Responsibility Details
  • Complete credit packages for existing and potential commercial clients, adding value through prudent loan structuring, reviewing commercial real‑estate appraisals.
  • Maintain loan portfolio, keeping financial information up to date, testing covenants, and aiding risk management of asset‑based credit facilities.
  • Assist loan operations with pre‑closing document review and support client advisors in discussions with closing attorneys.
  • Conduct industry and market research, develop forecasts, and perform competitive landscape analysis to support client advisors and bank management in decision making.
Successful Candidates Will Have
  • Minimum of 3 years analyzing commercial and industrial companies, including financial statement analysis, collateral and cash flow analysis.
  • Flexibility to respond to issues and solve problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional interaction with associates and clients.
  • Advanced knowledge of loan products, market pricing & structure trends, credit policies, procedures and federal regulations (desired).
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment and collaborate with other Credit Analysts and Associates to meet client needs and strategic objectives.
