- The Accounting Assistant at MARION COMMUNITY BANK will play a crucial role in supporting the bank's financial operations. This position is responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting, and providing support to the accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports.
- Perform data entry and ensure accuracy in all accounting transactions.
- Support the reconciliation of bank statements and accounts.
- Help in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation and information.
- Maintain and organize financial documents and files.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding financial information.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of accounting processes.
Required
Education:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within a banking or financial services environment.
- Experience with accounting software and financial reporting tools.
- Familiarity with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
Required
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data management and reporting.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies and propose solutions.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Understanding of banking regulations and compliance standards is a plus.
