Commercial Real Estate Legal Assistant

• Assist Investment Department's commercial mortgage loan attorneys in all phases of commercial mortgage lending
• Receive and distribute incoming due diligence items for loan closings
• Log, review, and analyze due diligence items for compliance with loan commitments
• Distribute items for review by underwriters, in-house attorneys, outside attorneys, and others
• Assist in-house attorneys with compiling data and due diligence items for analysis
• Communicate with mortgage bankers, borrowers, outside attorneys, and others regarding outstanding items
• Coordinate and document loan closings
• Coordinate with attorneys, borrower’s attorneys, title agents, cash management, and Corporate Accounting to document loan proceeds and accounting
• Input closed-loan data into the pipeline database
• Create and maintain permanent files
• Follow up on documentation for closed loans, including reviewing title insurance policies
• Coordinate commitment-fee refunds
• Prepare correspondence and handle substantial telephone and email communication
• Provide data to in-house servicing personnel and outside servicers as needed

• Excellent administrative skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Adobe for Windows
• Knowledge of commercial mortgage loan transactions and/or five or more years of legal assistant or paralegal experience concentrating in commercial real estate
• Exceptional organizational skills

Demonstrates expertise in commercial mortgage loan transactions, including due diligence analysis and compliance. Proficient in administrative tasks, communication, and coordination with various stakeholders in the loan closing process.
