Town Planner / Senior Town Planner – Birmingham

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Town Planner or Senior Town Planner to join a highly regarded, independent planning and development consultancy in their Birmingham office. This is an excellent role for a motivated individual looking to develop their career within a collaborative and forward‑thinking environment, working on high‑profile projects across the UK.

The Opportunity

This position offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning residential, commercial, and mixed‑use developments. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering planning advice to a wide range of clients, including developers, house builders, investors, and public sector organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals
  • Undertaking site appraisals and feasibility assessments
  • Developing planning strategies and providing policy advice
  • Producing development plan representations
  • Supporting projects through all stages of the planning process, including Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholders

About You
  • Degree qualified (minimum 2:1 or equivalent), ideally with a postgraduate qualification in a relevant RTPI/RICS‑accredited subject
  • Working towards or holding MRTPI (or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively
  • Interest in business development, innovation, and the planning sector
