The University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks a STERILE SUPPLY TECHNICIAN‑SOD to operate all sterilizing equipment according to current regulations.
Responsibilities- Monitor and report technical problems with equipment and autoclaves.
- Maintain proper inventory of sterilization chemicals and supplies.
- Collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect and/or sterilize dental instruments, trays and packs, and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure sterility and functionality.
- Hand wash and cold sterilize equipment as indicated per CDC sterilization guidelines.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and students in a fast‑paced clinical environment, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilized, packaged, and distributed accurately and on time.
(Hourly Rate: $15.00 – $16.93)
Qualifications- High School diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of experience in sterile supply.
- Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) with the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) is preferred.
- Knowledge of sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and prior experience in healthcare or dental environments.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, reliability, and good communication skills.
