Operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment and perform ultrasound procedures on various anatomical internal organs, vessels, fluid accumulations, masses, and developing fetuses. Report preliminary findings, measurements, and diagnoses to appropriate personnel (Radiologist or Cardiologist). Record scanned ultrasound images and transfer to imaging system for interpretation after checking for quality.
Qualifications- High School diploma or GED required.
- Current credential:
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by ARDMS, or Registered Technologist with Sonography Designation (R.T.(S)(ARRT)) by ARRT, or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by CCI, or applicable registration within one (1) year for new graduates. - For Radiology department: two routes accepted—ARDMS (registered RDMS or student/new graduate eligible to sit for exam) or ARRT (registered R.T.); advanced certification in Sonography (R.T.(S)) required within 12 months of hire.
- In Radiology department, additional certifications (ARDMS Registered Vascular Technology (RVT), ARRT Vascular Sonography (VS), or CCI Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)) required within 24 months of hire.
