Job Description

To supervise and evaluate pharmaceutical services in an assigned area. To ensure pharmacy operations conform to all applicable internal and external regulations, are fiscally sound and promote quality patient care. Provides pharmaceutical care as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision and day-to-day oversight of oncology specialty pharmacy team members, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and patient care coordinators.
  • Support the Pharmacy Manager in maintaining efficient and compliant specialty pharmacy operations.
  • Monitor daily workflow, staffing, and workload distribution to ensure timely patient care and prescription processing.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, coaching, and performance development of pharmacy staff.
  • Participate in the collection, monitoring, and reporting of operational and clinical performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, and other healthcare team members to optimize patient care and patient engagement efforts.
  • Ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a resource for staff regarding specialty pharmacy processes, payer requirements, and patient care coordination.
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives, audits, and accreditation activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and two (2) years of experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy experience, preferably in specialty pharmacy, oncology pharmacy, ambulatory care, or related practice settings.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, preceptor, or project management experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead workflow initiatives and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy operations, payer requirements, prior authorizations, and patient assistance programs preferred.
  • PGY-1 residency or equivalent practice experience preferred.
