What We're Looking For:

  • A bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation, education, or a healthcare-related field is preferred.
  • Alternatively, two years of senior living activities experience in a licensed healthcare setting within the last five years.
  • Activities certification is a plus!
  • Creativity in developing and implementing activities for seniors.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for working with seniors.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead a variety of recreational and educational activities, including current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, off-campus outings, special events, and one-on-one visits.
  • Create and distribute monthly calendars and other promotional materials.
  • Conduct interviews and develop individual resident assessments to tailor recreational programs to their needs and interests.
  • Suggest fun activities to relatives for use upon discharge of residents and connect them with community recreation resources.
  • Coordinate Resident Council and family meetings, and arrange special meetings to address interests and provide educational opportunities.
  • Ensure residents move safely to and from recreational areas.
  • Maintain reports, studies, and schedules in line with state and federal regulations.
  • Purchase and inventory supplies and equipment, and ensure recreational equipment is clean and well-maintained.
  • Communicate the goals and objectives of the recreational program to staff, volunteers, relatives, and the public.
  • Direct and train volunteers in their activities.
  • Transport residents to off-site activities.
