Encompass Health in Birmingham, AL seeks a Clinical Dietitian for a day‑shift role supporting inpatient rehabilitation patients. You will assess nutritional status, develop and implement evidence‑based care plans, and provide medical nutrition therapy to support recovery from major illnesses and injuries. Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and document care in the EMR. Responsibilities- Provide individualized medical nutrition therapy for inpatient rehabilitation patients based on clinical assessments and physician orders
- Develop, implement, and monitor evidence‑based nutrition care plans to support recovery from illness and injury
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and case managers as part of the interdisciplinary care team
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic diets, nutrition strategies, and discharge nutrition plans
- Document assessments, care plans, progress notes, and outcomes in the electronic medical record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
- Monitor nutrition‑related labs, intake, and tolerance; adjust interventions accordingly
- Provide input on menus, tube feeding formulas, and supplements to meet patient needs
- Precept or mentor dietetic interns or new staff as assigned
- Maintain current knowledge of clinical nutrition guidelines and best practices through ongoing education
