Medical Scribe - $1,500 Sign On Bonus

At Oak Street Health, a CVS Health company, we are rebuilding healthcare as it should be. Our value-based care model places quality over volume, delivering personalized primary care to Medicare beneficiaries right in their communities. Supported by the reach and resources of CVS Health, we offer rich training and clear career progression for dedicated healthcare professionals.

As a Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS)—our internal title for Medical Scribes—you will serve as a core team member working side-by-side with primary care providers. You will handle real-time clinical documentation during patient encounters, allowing providers to give their full, uninterrupted attention to patient care.

Beyond live charting, you will complete training in value-based medicine, chronic condition documentation, and ICD-10/CPT coding to actively support care-gap closure.

Ideal for Pre-Health Pathways:
This position provides paid, immersive clinical exposure and direct physician mentorship. It is an ideal launching pad for pre-med (MD/DO), PA, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or Health Science majors candidates seeking 1–2+ years of professional clinical experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Encounter Charting (80%):
Accurately capture real-time patient visits in the EMR (HPI, ROS, Physical Exam, Assessment, and Plan). Assign CPT/ICD-10 codes and prepare clear After Visit Summaries.
  • Clinical Documentation Improvement (10%):
Retrieve external medical records, leverage population health tools to identify documentation gaps, and help lead daily team huddles.
  • Administrative & Workflow Support (10%):
Process orders and referrals, resolve clinical tasks, and keep clinic workflows running efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology and common pharmaceuticals.
    • Excellent computer proficiency, active listening, and written/verbal communication skills.
    • Commitment to a minimum of 1 year in the role (2+ years strongly preferred).
    • Reliable, predictable on-site attendance during standard operating hours.
    • Full compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
    • Valid US work authorization.
    • Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (no exceptions)

Preferred:

  • Prior clinical exposure (shadowing, healthcare volunteering, or direct patient care).
  • Type 70+ wpm
