Description

The Assistant Director of Data Reporting and Analytics supports the university's strategic priorities and advancement initiatives by providing accurate, timely data reporting and analytics. Data and analytics requests are received and managed through an established workflow, enabling the team to prioritize, track, and deliver reporting solutions efficiently. This position partners with both University Advancement and other campus stakeholders to fulfill complex data requests, prepare customized reports where self-service tools are unavailable, and ensure data integrity across systems.

Other key responsibilities include gift tax receipts, tribute gift notifications, year-end tax statements, pledge reconciliation, and monthly pledge reminders. This position independently manages multiple projects while ensuring strict adherence to data protection and confidentiality standards. Working closely with the Director of Data Reporting and Analytics, the position supports special projects, including the university's CRM transition to Slate Advancement, and responds to donor and campus inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Job Duties
  • Provide data and analytical support to enhance the strategic priorities and advancement initiatives of the university.
  • Prepare data extracts, reports, and comprehensive lists for university colleagues where self-service tools are unavailable.
  • Fulfill data requests for recurring duties such as:
  • Preparing accurate and timely tax receipts for charitable gifts, saving receipts in the data storage system for archival.
  • Providing year-end tax summary statements per specific criteria and as requested by donors.
  • Compiling and sending notifications of gifts made in honor of or in memory of through Pledgemine on-demand direct mail.
  • Monthly reconciliation of pledge balances, in cooperation with Samford's Finance team.
  • Processing monthly pledge reminders.
  • Support a culture of continual improvement, displaying a willingness to evolve, adapt, and forge new solutions that improve operational efficiency and/or effectiveness which guide departmental objectives.
  • Maintain and regularly update processes related to all job responsibilities to ensure accuracy, productivity, and alignment with institutional standards.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, while using independent judgment. Demonstrate the qualities of self-direction, professionalism, and sound independent decision-making.
  • Ensure accuracy in a timely manner while assuming ownership for report and data quality, prioritizing data requests when necessary.
  • Possess a skill set in data reliability that comes from ascertaining, extracting, interpreting, and communicating data, which is both highly technical and autonomous.
  • Manage special data projects and initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Data Reporting and Analytics and leadership in University Advancement. This will include an upcoming CRM conversion from Banner Advancement to Slate Advancement.
  • Ensure all relevant data protection, information security, and data retention/giving policies are adhered to while possessing the highest level of confidentiality and standards.
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of University Advancement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
