Computer Operator III – General Dynamics Information Technology
Location:
Fort Novosel, AL. Requisition . Clearance Level: Secret. Eligible for US citizens only. The role is based at the customer site.
- Operate as the first point of contact after the Army Enterprise Service Desk (Tier
1), addressing incidents and service requests involving end‑user devices and basic networking issues. - Provide Tier 2 IT support to both classified and unclassified networks, integrating with the Army ITSM system to resolve issues not resolved by Tier 1.
- Execute technical troubleshooting across desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and multi‑function devices.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
- Guide customers through recommended problem‑solving steps and handle complex incidents escalated from Tier 1.
- Set up or repair computer equipment and related devices, and perform system setups for new hires.
- Install and train users on new hardware or software.
- Document standard support procedures for use by colleagues.
- Maintain parts inventory and log all service/repair activity.
- Elevate difficult cases to support technicians or senior analysts; remotely take over user control when necessary.
- Prioritize workload to ensure critical issues are resolved first.
- At least 3 years of related experience in IT/Computer Science or equivalent field.
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a Computer Operator.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose and determine the cause of computer problems.
- Excellent documentation of customer problem descriptions.
- Attention to detail and computer literacy.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Interpersonal skills to interface with a variety of personalities and rank.
- Dedication to problem solving and process analysis.
- Microsoft 365 Certified:
Endpoint Administrator Associate. - Microsoft training – a low‑level Microsoft certification required (prepare within 60 days, retest at 90 days if needed).
- ITIL v4 Foundations or higher (ITIL Training certification meets this requirement).
- Optional IAT Level II certifications: CCNA‑Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND.
The likely hourly rate for this position falls between $20.57 and $23.07. Final compensation is based on experience, geographic location and contractual requirements and may differ from this range.
