Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Net App Installation Engineer to support enterprise storage implementation projects for customers across multiple locations. This position is responsible for the onsite installation, configuration, deployment, expansion, and hardware upgrade of Net App storage solutions in both new and live production environments.

Working in cross‑functional environments, the Net App Installation Engineer collaborates with representatives and customer organizations to execute engineering initiatives involving administration, configuration, deployments, installations, hardware refresh activities, and support of enterprise storage environments. The position requires extensive travel and the ability to work independently while delivering high‑quality technical services in enterprise data centers.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of Net App storage platforms, storage networking, and enterprise infrastructure, with the ability to install, configure, validate, and troubleshoot complex storage environments while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

• Perform onsite installation, configuration, deployment, validation, and hardware upgrades of Net App enterprise storage systems.
• Install and support Net App storage platforms including AFF, A1K, ASA, FAS, Metro Cluster IP, and Storage GRID.
• Perform controller installations, upgrades, and headswaps.
• Install disk shelves, perform disk additions, and execute capacity expansions in live production environments.
• Perform hardware refresh activities.
• Install, configure, update firmware, and troubleshoot Cisco, Cisco Nexus, and Brocade switching environments, including Reference Configuration File (RCF) installations for new deployments and RCF upgrades of existing systems.
• Rack, stack, cable, and deploy Net App storage systems and associated switching infrastructure, including SFPs and storage peripheral hardware.
• Configure Auto Support (ASUP), perform storage failover activities, and validate successful installations.
• Collaborate with customers and cross‑functional engineering teams to understand requirements and communicate technical recommendations to storage professionals.
• Translate customer requirements into technical and system specifications and configurations.
• Provide technical analysis to ensure storage solutions are operationally sound.
• Execute and document testing completed on Net App hardware and software.
• Comprehend technical documentation including logical and physical system diagrams, rack elevation diagrams, system specifications, data flow diagrams, test plans, and as‑built documentation.

• Certifications:
  
  Net App Certified Data Administrator and Net App Certified Storage Installation Engineer (can obtain cert before start date).
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing rack, stack, cabling, and hardware deployment of Net App storage systems and switches.
• Strong knowledge of Net App technologies including ONTAP, Clustered Data ONTAP (C‑DOT), 7‑Mode, OnCommand, Hardware Universe (HWU), Smart Solve, and Active IQ.
• Experience installing and supporting Net App storage platforms including AFF, A1K, ASA, FAS, Metro Cluster, and Storage GRID.
• Experience performing controller installations, upgrades/headswaps, hardware refresh activities, shelf additions, disk additions, and capacity expansions in live production environments.
• Experience with Cisco, Cisco Nexus, and Brocade switch technologies, including experience performing RCF installations and upgrades.
• Familiarity with SFPs, fiber optic and copper cabling, and storage peripheral hardware.
