Land Research Specialist 2
The Land Research Specialist 2 will assist in managing fee-owned lands and protect land rights. This role involves resolving complex surveillance matters, negotiating and drafting commercial leases/licenses, reviewing proposed legislation impacting landholdings, and drafting legal documents for land protection and temporary access rights. The specialist will also help manage property remediation and restoration, and support litigated matters involving land rights.
Responsibilities- Assist in the management and protection of fee-owned lands.
- Resolve complex surveillance matters involving landholdings.
- Negotiate and draft complex commercial leases/licenses.
- Review, analyze, and provide input on proposed legislation affecting landholdings.
- Draft and revise legal documents to protect land rights and draft temporary access rights for third parties.
- Assist with property remediation, restoration, and recovery from responsible third parties.
- Support the management and oversight of litigated matters involving land rights.
- Proficiency in real estate law, permitting, land acquisition, and leasing.
- Strong understanding of contract law and legal documentation.
- Excellent negotiation and customer relationship management skills.
- Experience in litigation and real estate litigation.
- Experience in law is preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school is strongly preferred.
- Active membership in the Alabama State Bar is preferred.
- A minimum of five years' experience practicing law is strongly preferred.
- Experience with drafting and negotiating lease/license agreements is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of real estate practices and principles.
- Ability to think strategically, be innovative, and implement tactical solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to effectively engage with stakeholders.
The position is based at the Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL. The work schedule requires the candidate to work onsite for four days per week and remotely for one day. The candidate must be willing to adhere to this onsite schedule.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
