The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) is Alabama’s premier destination for sports, conventions, and entertainment, offering a dynamic environment for large-scale events. The campus features three exhibition halls and extensive meeting space totaling 380,000 square feet for trade shows, consumer shows, exhibitions, and meetings. BJCC is home to multiple venues, including a concert hall, stadium, and the state’s largest arena, providing diverse event experiences.
The complex also includes the Uptown Entertainment District, The Westin Birmingham Hotel, and the 497-room Sheraton Birmingham, the largest hotel in the state. In partnership with Live Nation, BJCC recently opened the 9,380-seat Coca-Cola Amphitheater, further expanding its entertainment offerings.
The Building Services Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, administration and execution for all custodial, housekeeping and venue appearance operations across BJCC properties. Ensures venues are clean, safe and well maintained. Provides leadership for building services staff, while ensuring facilities consistently meet exceptional standards of cleanliness, safety, regulatory compliance and guest experience. Directs departmental budgets, staffing, inventory control and contract labor administration.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years related experience in custodial work at the managerial level, preferably in a large public venue, hotel, or health care facility.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in public administration, business management or a related field or a combination of experience and some college.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience preparing and managing service staffing contracts including preparing operating budgets, labor forecasts, inventory control and cost containment initiatives.
