Nucor Steel Birmingham, Inc. is seeking applicants for the position of Refractory Utility. The Refractory Utility is responsible for improving safety, housekeeping, forklift operations, overhead crane operations, rigging, assisting in all aspects of refractory work including KT Grant operations, ladle relining, tundish rebuild and furnace relines. This position will require working some weekend coverage and being on call for furnace refractory work as needed.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
1 year Refractory or Melt Shop experience
Preferred Qualifications- Overhead crane operations and industrial work experience
- General mechanical aptitude
- The ability and desire to pursue positions of increased responsibility
