Production Manager, Manufacturing Engineer
Location: A southern suburb of Birmingham, AL (short drive from Downtown)
Hours: M-F 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Our client, a leading manufacturer of products and components for the Utilities Industry, is looking for an experienced JD Edwards Plant Scheduler to lead production scheduling in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment. This hands-on role allows you to directly impact operational success and customer satisfaction. JD Edwards experience is required, making this an exciting opportunity for candidates ready to apply their ERP expertise in a key, highly visible position.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Creating and maintaining manufacturing production schedules and generating work orders aligned with demand and capacity
- Optimizing production schedules based on available capacity, inventory levels, and customer requirements
- Managing downstream replenishment and releasing manufacturing orders on time
- Identifying and resolving short-term supply constraints weekly and long-term constraints monthly
- Analyzing daily supply and demand alerts and taking corrective action
- Translating overall production plans into actionable schedules for finished goods, sub-assemblies, and outsourced processes
- Maintaining accurate lead-time data and communicating updates to Sales and Marketing
- Monitoring production throughput and adjusting JD Edwards item configurations as needed
- Collaborating with QA and warehouse teams regarding defective materials and coordinating replacements
- Maintaining accurate scheduling and production data using Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
- Communicating across departments to ensure production plans align with company goals
- Supporting small-scale projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of production planning or scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with JD Edwards required (ERP configuration, scheduling, and work order management)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Collaborative mindset with a customer-first approach
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience in manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of MRP/MPS systems in a high-mix, low-volume production environment
- Continuous improvement or lean manufacturing experience
