Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Location: Theodore, AL

Salary: $100,000 to $120,000

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in production planning and manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for leveraging the company’s MRP/ERP system to plan, create, and manage work orders from initial planning through all stages of production. The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of CNC machining, welding, and fabrication processes, along with a solid understanding of quality, inventory, and shipping functions.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient use of resources, on-time delivery, and alignment with customer requirements while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. The Mechanical Engineer reports directly to the Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed production plans to meet customer demand and delivery schedules.
  • Utilize MRP/ERP systems to create and manage work orders, travelers, schedules, and material part numbers for all manufacturing processes.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints in both standard and metric measurements.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities across multiple departments.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff on technical specifications, manufacturing requirements and test procedures as necessary.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, logistics, and sales teams to ensure work instructions are accurate, clear and actionable.
  • Partner with department managers and leads to ensure appropriate staffing coverage, monitor lead times and proactively address production constraints.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Establish production priorities based on customer delivery requirements and first part qualification (FPQ) needs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements and company policies throughout production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred with a focus in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including welding, machining, and forming
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints in standard and metric formats
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and make informed decisions related to production scheduling, inventory, and resource allocation
  • Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems and analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent communication, organizational and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Working knowledge of warehouse safety regulations
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of data entry and inventory software programs
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Advanced math and analytical skills
  • Ability to meet physical job requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working in variable temperature conditions, and standing for extended periods
