O'Neal Steel currently has an opening for a (2nd Shift) Machine Operator (thermal) at our Birmingham, AL facility.
The Machine Operator sets up and operates thermal processing equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Thermal processing equipment is defined as any machine that uses thermal energy (heat) to cut, form, shape or otherwise process stock material. These machines include but are not limited to plasmas, lasers, etc. Uses computer-controlled equipment to select, position and secure automatic or semi-automatic machines.
Controls and adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Set up and operate a variety of thermal processing equipment; plasma, laser, etc.
- Operate a wide variety of material handling equipment, forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
- Read and interpret blueprints and follow work instructions.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
- Convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, add and subtract fractions and decimals.
- Provide high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of your position.
Must be able to work 2nd Shift (12:00PM - 8:00PM) Monday-Friday. Overtime will be required as needed.
Requirements- Ability to operate a variety of thermal processing equipment including plasmas, lasers, etc.
- Ability to operate a wide variety of material handling equipment including forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
- Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, add and subtract in fractions and decimals.
- Responsible for providing high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of your position.
- Ability to operate a variety of non-thermal processing equipment including saws, shears, press brakes, rollers, and digi-benders.
