About the Role
As a Shipping Supervisor at Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries in Birmingham, AL, you will oversee daily warehouse and shipping operations within the plant. The role ensures efficient material handling, order fulfillment, inventory management, and shipping logistics while maintaining a safe, organized, and productive warehouse environment. This position is ideal for a hands‑on leader with strong organizational, leadership, and problem‑solving skills who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting.
WhatYou'll Do
- Supervise, train, and coach warehouse and shipping personnel to meet production and delivery goals.
- Coordinate and oversee the timely loading, unloading, and dispatch of shipments to ensure on‑time customer delivery.
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels, including conducting cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies.
- Ensure proper storage, staging, and movement of materials and finished products throughout the warehouse.
- Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and control costs.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to shipments, inventory, and warehouse activities using ERP or warehouse management systems.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and logistics teams to support smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of forklifts, cranes, and other material‑handling equipment.
- 3+ years of warehouse and shipping experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment, preferably steel or pipe/tube manufacturing.
- 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and logistics processes.
- Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety best practices.
- Proven problem‑solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordination across teams.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other material‑handling equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced industrial manufacturing environment.
