Winder – Large Power Transformers
Job located at the Siemens Energy Transformers Manufacturing Center Factory in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Facility construction is planned for early 2026.

The Winder will play a crucial role in the production of windings for our large power transformers. The primary tasks on a typical workday include winding disc or helical coils based on technical designs and drawings; documentation and quality checks of the process progress; planning and reviewing the tasks to be carried out according to pre-established production plans and manufacturing standards.
HowYou'll Make an Impact
- Winding different types of coils, including helical windings or disc windings.
- Reads and interprets technical drawings and work plans, and prepares all vital materials for the winding process.
- Operating horizontal or vertical winding machines, overhead cranes, forklifts, and performing welding, soldering when necessary.
- Performing measurements and quality inspections for windings including reviewing the tolerances in accordance with technical requirements.
- Supports the creation and maintenance of technical instructions and submits documentation and quality checks for completed work.
- Responsible to fulfill and/or to support the fulfillment of all protocols, policies, guidelines, and competencies from current systems (EHS, QA, Cyber Sec, etc.).
- High school degree or equivalent with relevant technical training/experience.
- At least 2 or more years of experience in the winding process for medium to large transformers.
- Ability to use math, read and interpret sophisticated drawings, and perform complex measurements.
- Ability to acquire Keys certification test on reading and writing and Blueprint reading test offered by local community college.
- Applicant must obtain and maintain Forklift License and a Critical Lift level crane license and certification for working in heights.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Successful applicants must pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow verbal and/or written instructions in English.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
- Must be willing to relocate temporarily to Mexico, Brazil or Germany for the on-the-job training for a period of 6 months based on proficiency in the area of training. Appropriate relocation support and compensation will be provided.
