Job Description
Altec, Inc. is a leader in hydraulic utility equipment manufacturing. We are looking for welders to perform welding and metal preparation tasks such as sanding and grinding while assembling custom truck bodies.
Shifts:
2nd Shift – 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
Location:
Birmingham, AL. Starting pay $24.62 /hour, based on verifiable experience.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Welding knowledge gained through experience or vocational training.
- Ability to pass a preliminary weld test and complete AWS D1.1 Code certification within 60 days of placement.
- Willingness to work the 2nd shift.
- Experience with welding, cutting, and/or fabrication of metal parts.
- Proficiency with wire feed welding, MIG or TIG welding.
- Weld using M‑I‑G processes and torch welding.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Install truck and body components onto chassis using hand tools, welders, winches, and other equipment.
- Perform re‑work as needed.
- Provide quality, timely workmanship and maintain daily time standards.
- Follow established safety and quality procedures.
- Work in a team environment, moving between jobs to support the schedule.
