Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Tig Welder role located in the Greater Madison Area at NEC’s Middleton facility. The Tig Welder will fabricate, weld, and assemble metal components used in accelerator systems, following engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. Day‑to‑day tasks include preparing materials, setting up welding equipment, performing high‑quality TIG welds on a variety of metals, and inspecting finished work to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to safety and quality standards.
The role involves collaborating with engineers, machinists, and other production staff, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and assisting with troubleshooting or rework as needed. The Tig Welder will also contribute to continuous improvement efforts in welding processes and production efficiency.
Qualifications- Strong TIG welding skills with experience working on precision components, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications, and to use measuring tools for quality checks.
- Familiarity with metal fabrication processes, including material preparation, fitting, and finishing for stainless steel and other alloys.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including proper use of PPE, safe handling of equipment, and adherence to OSHA and company safety standards.
- Attention to detail and quality, with a focus on producing consistent, high‑accuracy welds and meeting production timelines.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production staff.
- High school diploma or equivalent; welding certification or technical training in welding or metal fabrication is highly beneficial.
- Prior experience in a high‑tech or precision manufacturing environment is a plus, as is experience with CNC or manual machining operations.
