Steel Plate Fabricator

TASSCO is a provider of specialty alloy steel wear plate and a manufacturer of custom wear solutions. A TASSCO fitter assembles parts from steel plate and structural steel in a manner to maximize production and welding efficiency.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for fitting & welding jobs to meet specifications on TASSCO production drawings.
• Follow required procedures and use appropriate jigs and fixtures in the assembly process.
• Prepare jobs before transferring to the welding department (beveling, labeling, & bracing).
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Maintain tools and machines.

• Education: Vocational school training or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  Skills:
  
  
  • Knowledge of welding processes and equipment.
  • Operate mixed gas and plasma torches.
  • Proficient in welding with flux core (FCAW), stick (SMAW), and mig (MGAW).
  • Skilled in welding tee joints (F2) and vertical joints (F3).
  • Ability to read tape measures & angle finders.
  • Read production drawings and AWS welding symbols.
  • Operate forklift & overhead cranes.

  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence.

  Work with basic & geometrical mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
