MIG Welder / Fabricator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled MIG Welder/Fabricator to join a manufacturing team and take responsibility for welding, fabricating, and machining metal components in accordance with blueprints and detailed work instructions. In this role, you ensure that parts are produced to precise specifications while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and craftsmanship.

• Perform MIG welding on fabricated metal parts and assemblies in vertical, flat, and overhead positions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to determine job requirements and fabrication steps.
• Operate manual or CNC milling machines to machine, modify, and finish metal components to specification.
• Cut, fit, grind, and assemble materials accurately to meet design and quality standards.
• Inspect finished products for dimensional accuracy, weld integrity, and overall quality, making adjustments as needed.
• Use appropriate measuring tools to verify tolerances and ensure parts meet required specifications.
• Apply flux core welding techniques when required for specific projects or materials.
• Follow all established safety procedures, including proper use of equipment and protective gear.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area to support safe and productive operations.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and resolve fabrication or machining issues.

• Proven experience in MIG welding and metal fabrication, including vertical, flat, and overhead welds.
• Demonstrated ability to operate manual or CNC mill machines for machining and modifying metal components.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and measurements accurately.
• Proficiency in using measuring tools to check dimensions and tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
• Hands-on experience with cutting, fitting, grinding, and assembling metal materials to specification.
• Knowledge of flux core welding processes and appropriate application in fabrication work.
• Understanding of manufacturing safety procedures and safe operation of welding and machining equipment.

• AWS welding certification.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and correct fabrication or machining issues.
• Reliable work ethic and ability to follow detailed work instructions and quality standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Birmingham, AL.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
