Seasonal Volunteer Coordinator

CHRISTMAS SEASON VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a CHRISTMAS SEASON VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR for The Salvation Army Birmingham Command, located in Birmingham, Alabama.

Responds to volunteers that have registered in the volunteer software program, screens and selects volunteers for the various seasonal and Center of Hope activities; orientates, trains, coordinates and monitors the work of volunteers ensuring ample staff to meet Christmas program needs. Coordinates the volunteers for The Salvation Army Angel Tree program and seasonal activities. Prepares, records and reports for Christmas programs.

This is an onsite position. Remote work is not available.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of general office practices and principles. Knowledge of social service practices and principles. Ability to work with people and to provide guidance and assistance in a calm, courteous, and tactful manner. Ability to prepare accurate and complete records, reports, and statistics.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations or related field and experience working with volunteers preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, and computer. Ability to walk, stand, and do occasional lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Work is performed in a normal office environment and at the Angel Tree Christmas Warehouse.
