About the Role
This Advanced Nurse Practitioner opportunity supports complex perioperative patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role offers a high level of clinical autonomy while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team. This position is ideal for an APRN who thrives in a fast‑paced, acute care environment and enjoys practicing at the top of their license.
The Position
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner functions independently to assess, diagnose, and manage acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative patients. The role includes participation in surgical care, patient education, and care coordination throughout the continuum of care.
What You’ll Do
Perform age‑appropriate histories and physical examinations for complex perioperative patientsManage acute, critical, and chronic conditions in inpatient and outpatient settingsOrder, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic testsPrescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatment plansImplement interventions to restore or maintain physiologic stabilityServe in a first assist role as appropriateAssist with surgical care in compliance with facility, state, and federal regulationsMonitor patient response and effectiveness of treatmentsFacilitate patient transitions including admissions, transfers, and dischargesCollaborate with multidisciplinary care teams and initiate appropriate referralsProvide education and decision‑support tools for patients, families, and staffPractice Highlights

Graduate of an accredited School of NursingGraduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner ProgramCurrent Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensureActive BLS and ACLS certificationsPALS certification as required by department or facilityStrong computer proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Power Point Why Birmingham, Alabama
