To lead Nursing Practice across the continuum of care within UAB Hospital and hospital-based clinics. To provide leadership and coordinate hospital-wide efforts to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of nursing leadership, nursing practice and enhance the hospital's quality initiatives. To provide nursing leadership and direction in the development and ongoing monitoring of nursing practice and nursing quality initiatives as the system moves toward a population management model of care.
To serve as a key leader in influencing nursing, quality, operations, and strategy at UAB Hospital and as part of an Academic Medical Center partner with the UAB School of Nursing.
Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) is required with preference for a (DNP or PhD) doctoral prepared candidate with the requisite credentials for an appointment with the School of Nursing and extensive and progressive administrative experience with at least seven (7) years as a Chief Nursing Officer or Nurse Executive in an AMC qua ternary environment required. Experience in level one Trauma AMC environment strongly preferred.
Multi-site campus experience preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing and Board certification in nursing administration or equivalent is required.
