The following APPs may be considered for this role:
Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant.
Work schedule:
10 hour shifts - 4 shifts each week. No weekends, holidays or call. CME allowance:
Full-time benefited APPs receive an annual $2,000.00 CME allowance. This can be used for recertification, fees, CMEs, etc. that occur after a new employee's start date.
The Division of Hematology/Oncology at UAB Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full time day shift position in the Hematology/Oncology Outpatient Clinic. The position entails the evaluation and management of medical oncology and breast survivorship patients. The APP will also perform procedures within the defined specialty scope of practice. The desired candidate will have prior Hematology/Oncology experience and knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy including the management of side effects.
The APP will work with the disease team to management of new cancer diagnosis, disease progression, chemotherapy toxicities, acute visits and survivorship.
The Breast Cancer Survivorship Clinic provides high-quality follow-up care to breast cancer survivors who have completed active treatment, including risk-based assessment for treatment-related complications and health education aimed at health promotion, wellness, psychosocial assessment and support, and preventive health services. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will perform a detailed history and physical exam along with associated screening tests, tailored to the patient’s individual treatment history, in order to detect therapy-related complications at their earliest stages, when they can be most easily treated.

Summary
To provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice to medical services patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician (Section 610‑X‑5 of the Alabama Board of Nursing Administrative Code) or under supervision of a Board Certified Physician (Section 540‑X‑7 of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code). The collaborating physician shall be available for direct communication for consultation and referral or arrange for the same medical coverage by a physician who is pre‑approved by the State Board of Medical Examiners in the same manner as the collaborating physician of record.
To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age specific needs of the patient. To plan and coordinate health care education for patient, family and other health care providers as needed. To perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments. To interpret, analyze and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data. To perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement.
