Work Schedule- Full-time, benefited
- Alternating scheduling including 8- and 12-hour shifts
- Weekends, holidays and call are required.
CME allowance:
Full-time benefited APPs receive an annual $2,000.00 CME allowance. This can be used for recertification, applicable fees, CME courses, etc. that occur after a new employee's start date.
The UAB Division of Women’s Reproductive Health is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to provide full‑scope midwifery care. Responsibilities include conducting history and physical exams for low‑risk obstetric patients and well‑woman gynecologic visits, evaluating and managing OB and GYN complaints in the outpatient setting, providing inpatient management of low‑risk labor and birth, intrapartum support, and immediate postpartum care. The CNM will work autonomously and in collaboration with other APPs and physicians.
Experience is preferred but not required. Must be professional, caring, dependable, a team player, and multi‑task oriented.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides clinical coverage in obstetrics and gynecology services, including ambulatory and inpatient care (primary or consult services).
- May work atypical hours and fewer days per week using a shift‑based model or traditional 8‑hour days/week methodology. Full‑time APPs working 12‑hour clinical days will work 14‑16 clinical days/month.
- Full‑time APP effort of 90% patient‑facing; patient access expectations established by UAB Medicine leadership and the department.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, or holidays depending on coverage needs.
- May be required to provide call coverage (up to five nights per month before additional compensation).
- May be required to stay during inclement weather when necessary.
- May have “at risk” call for additional inpatient clinical days to ensure safe, effective patient care.
- Performance metrics include traditional productivity metrics (encounters or wRVU), patient access, throughput, quality, patient experience and academic contribution.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or equivalent certification.
- Experience preferred but not required.
- Professional, caring, dependable, team player, and multi‑task oriented.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with physicians and APPs.
