Advanced Practice Provider - UAB Vascular Neurology/Stroke Consult Team

Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Work schedule: Full‑time. 8‑hour evening shifts (2pm–10pm) with weekend/holiday coverage. No on‑call.
CME AllowanceFull‑time APPs receive an annual $2,000 CME allowance for recertification, fees, and CME activities.
Job OverviewThe Advanced Practice Provider will respond to code stroke events and stroke‑related neurology consults throughout the hospital, actively participating in treatment planning with the on‑call attending physician, staying with patients until medically stable, ordering medications, diagnostics, and treatments, and communicating information to patients and families. The APP will keep ongoing communication with other provider teams, participate in quality/process improvement meetings and stroke division meetings, and work daily with a multidisciplinary team.

- Provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice under the direction of the collaborating physician or a board‑certified physician or pre‑approved provider.
- Coordinate plans of care, discharge, and specialty referrals to meet patient needs.
- Plan and coordinate health‑care education for patients, families, and other providers.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments.
- Interpret and analyze patient medical records and social data.
- Assist physicians with procedures per collaborative agreement.
- Coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.
