Travel RN - Labor & Delivery

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby (Postpartum) position at a Birmingham, AL hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of postpartum experience and AHA-issued BLS and NRP certifications.

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand; no hits on license accepted
• Current AHA‑issued certifications required: BLS and NRP (American Red Cross certifications are not accepted)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent postpartum RN experience required
• Proficiency in postpartum maternal and newborn assessments, PPH management, HTN management, and OB Sepsis management
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Work setting is a 27‑bed Mother‑Baby (postpartum) unit within a comprehensive hospital facility
• Patient population consists of postpartum couplets (mother and newborn)
• Patient ratio is 1:3–4 couplets
• Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Medela breast pumps, and Medela Breast milk Warmers
• EMR is currently Cerner, transitioning to Epic on or after 8/1/2026
• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 13‑week contract
• Schedule requires every other Friday and Saturday
• 36 hours per week
• Primary responsibilities include postpartum couplet care for mothers and newborns
• Preferred experience in postpartum couplet care (mother and newborn together)
• The facility holds Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission and includes a Women’s Medical Center with a Level III NICU on campus
• Required scrub color is navy; fleece and plain t‑shirts are not acceptable attire
• Natural nails are required; no artificial nails permitted
